Bourns^® Sensing is committed to providing customers with precision environmental sensors that deliver highly stable output for demanding applications. The Bourns® Precision Sensor (BPS) portfolio of pressure sensing products is based on rugged MEMS technology. Bourns specifically designed its BPS products to meet a wide range of industrial, medical* and consumer market sensing requirements – from precision sensing at ultra-low pressures to demanding application specifications for high temperature, harsh environments.

Environmental Sensors
BPS pressure sensors are based on innovative MEMS technology which provides extremely accurate condition readings in a miniature package size. The sensing element is comprised of embedded piezoresistive elements bonded to a chemically etched silicon diaphragm. As with other Sensors & Controls products, our BPS models can be modified to fit the customer’s specific application. Ask our FAEs for information regarding customization.

As with the other Bourns^® Sensing products, several of our BPS models can be modified to fit the customer’s specific application. Custom pressure ranges and accuracy are just a few of the modifications available.

Position Sensors
A rotary position sensor translates angular mechanical position to an electrical signal. Bourns^® Rotary Position Sensors are designed for applications that typically require frequent adjustment. Shaftless designs allow for different engagement mechanisms, such as a customized shaft, a motor control, a human interface adjustment or a mechanical arm position locator. Rotary position sensors can be used in applications where a user needs to control a variable output such as a frequency, speed or volume control. Typical applications include test and measurement equipment, consumer electronics, small engines, robotics, and medical equipment.

Bourns^® Contacting Multiturn Positions Sensors are available in busing and servo mount bodies, are often gangable, and also come with non-standard features and specifications.

A spin-off of the Trimpot^® trimming potentiometer product line, the contacting linear motion position sensor was developed to meet the needs of designers wishing to detect movement of position. Applications for these compact components include: Solenoid positioning sensors for automated controllers, volume control on audio equipment, joystick controllers, satellite dish positioning, and robotics.

APPLICATION

Precision Pots Multiturn Bourns^® Precision potentiometers are designed for control applications where accuracy and high-reliability is important. These devices are available in conductive plastic, wirewound or Hybritron^® element types, and in various sizes. Both single-turn and multiturn models are available. Typical applications include measuring linear distance, angles or rotations in production equipment, industrial test and measurement equipment, and medical equipment.
