NEW YORK — Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NASDAQ:TXN) has been named one of the 2014 “NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women” by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), which honors American corporations that identify and promote successful women.
“NAFE sees some good news from our analysis of companies where women succeed,” says Dr. Betty Spence, NAFE President. “Women at these companies are reaching a critical mass where they can support, sponsor, and advance their female colleagues, and as a result, we see a measurable increase in the number of women running operations. We expect this trend to continue.”
Compared with NAFE’s data from last year, •The percentage of women who are top earners at winning companies has grown to 35 percent in 2014 from 32 percent. •Corporate executives with profit and loss responsibilities remained steady at 22 percent. •Sixty percent of the top companies now offer sponsorship programs compared with 42 percent in 2013 while 96 percent offer job rotations, up from 80 percent.
In 2012, TI achieved a historical high in the percentage of women professionals working at the company. By building programs specifically designed for women, TI strives to ensure that women at all levels have the opportunity to advance and be successful in their careers.
“As a leading semiconductor company, we have to be innovative and must constantly evolve the ways we attract and retain top female talent from this very limited pool of candidates,” said Darla Whitaker, TI’s senior vice president, worldwide human resources. “By influencing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, reaching out to students early in their college careers, and providing unique resources to both students and teachers, we have been able to consistently attract top talent and help them advance their careers.”
Carol Evans, CEO of NAFE and president of Working Mother Media, said, “The NAFE Top Companies offer environments where women have significant clout and make the decisions that affect their company’s future and its bottom line. Their female top executives lead businesses, set policy and have profit-and-loss responsibility.” The full list of this year’s winners is posted on workingmother.com and nafe.com.
