OIF-hosted demonstrations showcased Molex zQSFP+ 28Gb/s per lane solutions—theworld’s first interconnects to achieve speeds exceeding 100Gb/s
Singapore – September 20, 2012 – Molex Incorporated joined forces with other OpticalInternetworking Forum (OIF) members in showcasing 100Gb/s interconnect speeds atthe OIF interoperability live demonstrations during the European Conference onCommunication (ECOC 2012) Exhibition, held from September 17-19 at the RAIConvention Center in Amsterdam. The ECOC Exhibition is the largest European opticalcommunications event for professionals in the fiber-optic technology industry.
Two of the ECOC demonstrations showcased Molex zQSFP+™ interconnects – theworld's first QSFP-based interconnects to achieve data rates in excess of 100Gb/s –which in the demonstrations achieved speeds of up to 25.78Gb/s per lane. SupportingOIF's CEI-28G-VSR interfaces, 100Gb/s Ethernet and 100Gb/s InifiniBand® EnhancedData Rate applications, the zQSFP+ Active Optical Cable and zQSFP+ electricalinterconnects transmitted over distances of up to 4km with excellent cooling, unparalleled signal integrity, superior EMI protection and the lowest power consumptionin the optical industry.
"By successfully demonstrating interoperability of a high-speed multi-channel system,Molex and its OIF partners have helped pave the way for next-generation, high-speedconnectivity," said Scott Sommers, group product manager, Molex. "This is a criticalstep in meeting the high-performance needs of future bandwidth-intensivecommunications systems."
As host of the exhibition's multi-vendor demonstrations, the OIF marks the initialEuropean demonstration of the 28Gb/s interconnects, utilizing a Molex zQSFP+ ActiveOptical Cable and retimers. Live demonstrations of OIF physical and link layerinteroperability, featuring the Molex zQSFP+ and Active Optical Cable and other OIFpartner technologies, took place continuously during the show.
