-Realizing noise reduction and small package for small cooling fan-

TOKYO – Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced the launch of three-phase brushless Hall sensorless driver ICs, "TB67B001FTG", "TB67B008FTG" and "TB67B008FNG", for the cooling fans of PC servers and home appliances such as refrigerators. Mass production starts today.

Quiet operation and downsizing of the motors are essential for the small cooling fans that are widely used for cooling PC servers and eco-conscious home appliances.

The new products, featuring the 150° wide-angle commutation drive, contribute to lower vibration and motor noise. In addition, the WQFN24 package version downsizes required board space to about 88% that of an SSOP24 package, contributing to PCB downsizing.

■Main Features of New Products

1.Quiet operation
Vibration and motor noise are reduced by the 150° wide-angle commutation drive.

2.Downsizing
"TB67B001FTG" adopts a leadless VQFN36 (5 × 5 × 0.9mm) package. "TB67B008FTG" adopts a WQFN24 (4 × 4 × 0.75mm) package, enabling mounting in the limited space offered by small cooling fans. "TB67B008FNG" adopts a typical SSOP24 package (8.3 × 7.6 × 1.6mm).

3.Sensorless drive
The new products control the rotation of three-phase brushless motor without any need for Hall sensors.

4.High-speed rotation
High-speed rotation, 30,000rpm [2], is achieved with a high-speed PWM [1] drive and improved cooling.

■Main Specifications

[1] PWM: To control the proportion of a fixed cycle time in the high/low states of the pulse.

[2] No. of rotation per minute when a 4-pole motor is used.
