Toshiba Exhibits Semiconductor Solution for LED Lighting System at TECHNO-FRONTIER

2013/07/17Toshiba  Analog

TOKYO – Toshiba Corporation Semiconductor & Storage Products Company today announced that it will exhibit LED driver IC solutions for LED lighting system at TECHNO-FRONTIER 2013 / Power System Japan 2013. The Exhibit will be held from July 17 to July 19 at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo.

A demo set using a non-isolated LED driver IC[1], "TB62D901FNG", realizes constant LED current with the product's automatic on-time and switching frequency adjustment mode, and a demo set using two units of the product offers solution for color adjustment. A demo set using an isolated LED driver IC[2], "TC62D902FG", offers solutions for triac dimming[3].

Outline of Exhibition for LED Lighting

■Demo of automatic on-time and switching adjustment mode

The "TB62D901FNG", with its automatic on-time and switching adjustment mode, suppresses variations in the LED's forward voltage often caused by temperature fluctuation and the number of serially connected LEDs, delivering a stable average LED current.
The demo set shows product performance by monitoring the current wave form in changing the number of connected LEDs.

■System Solution for LED Downlight

The "TC62D902FG" enables triac dimming of an LED downlight directly connected to AC power supply.

■System Solution for LED Ceiling Light

The demo set incorporates two units of "TB62D901FNG". With the combination of the product's built-in function of PWM dimming[4] and linear dimming[5], "TB62D901FNG" controls two sets of LEDs with different color tones, realizing adjustment of color and brightness of an LED ceiling light.

These demo sets also incorporate Toshiba's controller IC, "TB6819AFG", white LEDs, "TL1F1" series and MOFETs. Toshiba provides semiconductor solutions to realize various LED lighting applications.

Notes:
[1] A system that does not use an isolating transformer, where input electric power line is connected to output line.
[2] A system that consists of an isolating transformer, where input electric power is transmitted through a transformer.
[3] Dimming that controls brightness with On/Off time for every cycle of the AC voltage waveform.
[4] Dimming that controls brightness with On/Off of LED current.
[5] Dimming that controls the brightness by changing the absolute value of the LED current.
