TOKYO (December 28, 2015) -- THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ: 6769), the global leader in high-speed serial interface and provider of mixed-signal LSI, today announced its development of power module with the industry-fastest-level ultra quick transient response and high efficiency by THine’s Transphase technology for various high-performance processing circuit board applications such as artificial intelligence, high-speed image processing and industrial applications. This DC/DC buck converter module supports supply with large current, containing power management IC, power MOSFET, inductors, and sense registers in a tiny package and enables small footprints with a minimum of external parts for power system. THine’s Transphase technology achieves the industry-fastest-level ultra quick transient response. In addition, the soft-start feature allows the regulator to reach steady-state operation by a constant increase without depending on the load transients.
THine’s new power module technology is suitable for power systems of circuit boards with large current. This power module technology is, for example, applicable to the circuit boards with FPGA (field programmable gate arrays) or microprocessors that are used in artificial intelligence processors or servers for analyzing big data or internet of things, high-speed image signal processing or recognition, and various industrial equipments. In addition, THine’s DC/DC converter module is suitable to many measuring/inspection equipments that require highly sophisticated power systems in order to solve space constraints on the narrow circuit boards and to allow easy design. Since such applications require higher-efficiency power devices, THine’s power module technology enables to achieve required efficiency on print circuit boards, reducing footprints and time-to-market.
THine plans to deliver its samples of the first product from the first quarter in 2016 and support customers’ needs sufficiently, developing its product line-ups for customers’ needs in high-performance of cloud servers, artificial intelligence systems, high-speed image processing and recognition, and industrial applications.
Application ・Power system of FPGA boards, microprocessor boards, PCBs with ASICs and DSPs ・Precision measurement equipment and analysis equipment, medical equipment (blood pressure meter, electrocardiograph, etc.), and amusement equipment
About Transphase Technology Transphase technology is THine’s original switching converter technology that enables ultra quick transient response. Transphase has a feature to reduce steep changes of output voltage in rapid load transients, satisfying much narrower voltage ranges allowed by recent SoC’s lower voltage and higher power density. Such feature of Transphase results in cost reduction by decreasing value of capacitors for smoothing output voltage as well as in reducing risks of malfunction by voltage drop and device failure by overvoltage.
