Sidac (SIDAC)®
Sidac (SIDAC)®, a two-terminal thyristor, is a semiconductor device that is energized by applying a specified voltage.By using Sidac (SIDAC)® it is possible to easily create a pulse generation circuit.
Features
- 1 2terminal thyristor
- Thyristor has three terminals, whereas SIDAC has two terminals by incorporating a gate. Turns on (ignition) by adding the specified voltage (VBO).
- 2 An abundant lineup
- K1V series with bidirectional characteristics. (No polarity). G1V series with unidirectional characteristics. VBO: 10V~380V (tvp) surface mount, selectable from axial package.
- 3 Operating principle
- K1V series Turn on and energizes by applying the specified voltage (VBO). Turns off at or below holding current (IH). G1V series Turns on and energizes by applying specified viltage (VBO) between the anode and cathode. Turns off at or below holding current (IH).
Basic action
If the load impedance RL is smaller than the switching resistance RS of the SICAC at the basic operating circuit, it turns on at the same time vin reaches K1V breakover voltage VBO.
The K1V series repeats the switching operation every cycle of AC. The G1V series operates only at + voltage.

- 2 AC switching (switching power supply startup/voltage direction circuit etc.)

Unidirection elemnet … G1V series
- 1 Various pulse generation (gas igniter, ion generator, HID lamp boost circuit, etc.)
- 2 Overvoltage/noise protection (DC line surge protection)
