CES 2022: The Snapdragon Digital Chassis and GNSS Positioning Solutions

At CES 2022, Qualcomm demonstrated the Snapdragon Digital Chassis auto connectivity platform, featuring global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning solutions. In this video, Lars Boeryd – Senior Director of Product Marketing at Qualcomm – explains the technology behind the Snapdragon Digital Chassis and its industry leading GNSS solution, and what it means for drivers.
For autonomous cars, connected navigation, cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X), and more, highly accurate positioning technologies are a must. To meet this demand, Qualcomm supports multi-frequency, multi-constellation GNSS positioning systems to give automakers and drivers the greatest possible positioning accuracy in their vehicles.
These GNSS solutions, part of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis car-to-cloud services, offer solutions that are tailor made for targeted use cases. Because position accuracy requirements vary by application, Snapdragon offers several levels of GNSS depending on the use case. For basic navigation, the vehicle can use standard GNSS. For lane-level navigation/C-V2X, multi-frequency GNSS is utilized; and for autonomous cars, vehicles use high-precision GNSS for the greatest possible accuracy.
With Qualcomm’s multi-constellation, single-frequency, and multi-frequency GNSS, there is a positioning solution for every use case.
