Realizing Quiet Drive and Low Energy Consumption for Home Appliances TOKYO – Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that it has launched a sine-wave driver IC, "TB6585AFTG", for the three-phase DC brushless motors used in the fan motors of home appliances that require quiet operation and low energy consumption, such as ventilation fans and electric fans. Mass production shipment starts today.
The integrated PWM[1] controller circuit of driver IC generates a sine wave, realizing a quiet, high efficiency motor drive.
The "TB6585AFTG" adopts a small, leadless, heat-dissipating QFN48 package that realizes the same absolute maximum ratings for voltage and current as existing products[2]. The driver IC contributes to equipment downsizing and lower PCB costs by reducing the required mounting area by approximately 75%.
Main specifications of new product
Notes: [1]: Pulse Width Modulation. A method to control torque and rotation speed of a motor by changing the on and off time in a constant period. [2]: Comparison with "TB6585FG" with HSOP36 package.
