Offering fast-responding MOV protection with Thermal Disconnector, Bourns ® Model 1270 and 1280 Series SPDs provide a high reliability safeguard against surge threats
RIVERSIDE, Calif., August 20, 2024 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, today announced its Model 1270 and 1280 Series Din-Rail AC Surge Protective Devices (SPDs). The new models are IEC/EN 61643-11 compliant Class I + Class II / T1+T2 SPDs, and Model 1280 features an Advanced Thermal Disconnector (TD+) for enhanced protection that eliminates the need for upstream overcurrent protection. Both model series also feature a window fault indicator and remote alarm to help monitor the operating status of the surge protector.
Bourns’ latest SPDs are designed to address the risk of thermal runaway due to sustained overvoltage and surge conditions, which can potentially cause a fire hazard. Offering superior surge protection, they deliver up to 80 kA 8/20 µs per mode surge energy capability, have a high short-circuit current rating up to 50 kA rms , and an impulse current capacity up to 12.5 kA 10/350 μs. For easy replacement, both model series are available in pluggable modules, and are intended to be installed on the load side at the front end of the installation in the main switchboard and positioned close to sensitive terminals or installations with LPS (lightning rods). The features and capabilities of Bourns ® Model 1270 and 1280 Series make them well-suited for a wide variety of energy storage applications such as electric vehicle charging stations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and green photovoltaic and wind energy systems.
Bourns ® Model 1270 and 1280 SPDs are available now and are RoHS* compliant. For detailed product information, please visit: www.bourns.com/products/surge-protective-devices/ac-surge-protective-devices.
